Norman Stewart Grandstaff

Ideas Communicated co-owner Norm Grandstaff is the person to turn to for all issues relating to associations and their publishing needs. Norm has been in the magazine and association industry for decades. Norm’s clients consistently become his friends because of the way he treats their publications and their businesses. Clients love that Norm is not only talented when it comes to magazine design, but is also a great source of information about the association publishing industry. He is client focused and puts a high priority on communicating often and well.

Norm has made art a central part of his life since his childhood in the South Bronx, NY. From his early days as a designer and artist in marketing and communications, Norm has been creating beautiful work. He has decades of experience in trade magazine design and production, as well as the association industry in the Washington D.C. area.

Before starting Ideas Communicated in 2000, Norm was an art director at Penton Media, was responsible for design and art at The Magazine Group, and was also a partner at Harris Grandstaff Marketing. He earned his Master’s degree from Georgetown University in Communication Culture and Technology, and a Bachelor in Fine Arts degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. He also attended the Corcoran School of the Arts.

Norm has won several awards in print such as the Print Magazine Design Annula, the International Three Dimensional Illustration awards, ASBPE awards, Gold Circle awards, Association Trends awards, and several design awards from publications. Norm’s most prized awards, however, are the letters he gets from satisfied association members, and readers, and the kudos he receives from happy clients.
